In Sept of 2017, I contacted the manufacturer of the vehicle (#AudiCanada) for assistance in repairs to the engine, as it was experiencing a check engine light with misfire codes of P0300 and P0303. The agent there was very helpful and recommended testing for the vehicle to be done at the dealership (#SouthgateAudi) who also confirmed the known issue of excessive oil consumption for the vehicles of this make, model and year.
Through the testing of the engine for excessive oil consumption ordered by @AudiCanada, it was determined at Southgate Audi the vehicle was consuming 1.52L of oil per 1000KMs traveled, over 3 times the maximum allowable amount of 0.5L per 1000KMs as recommended by the manufacturer.
Audi Canada agreed to pay 70% of the repairs to the vehicle and I paid the remainder which was fixed in January of 2018.
I picked up the vehicle and was told by @SouthgateAudi that "it is basically a brand new engine" and "good to go" with 1 year warranty on the repairs.
After two weeks of driving the vehicle the check engine light came back on, and in speaking with southgate audi they said if the car is driving fine, not to worry. I advised him that there was a slight shake in the car, and maybe it was due to snow and road conditions with it being winter. This was over a few calls and lastly that there was a slight intermittent vibration at idle. The check engine light disappeared and then reappeared over the next few weeks.
We finally took the vehicle in to Southgate #Audi, where the repairs were made, and had to pay another diagnostic fee of $169 to determine that the same cylinder in piston 3 was still misfiring(intermittent faults). They then advised me it was too bad they were not aware of the misfires at the time of the repairs for excessive oil consumption they performed in January 2018, and that it would cost more labour and more work to fix the problem, and that the misfire could be from anything, even a third party business (B*R* Automotive) who performed the final oil change before the check engine light initially came on in 2017, or the aftermarket spark plugs and coil packs which were installed.
I have all the paperwork and invoicing for the repairs, however Southgate
@audi is claiming that the repairs to the piston for the misfire, and the excessive oil consumption issue are not linked, and that they are separate issues requiring separate work, namely more money from me.
The initial issue I had is still ongoing, and I was expecting the vehicle to be repaired.
During the time of repairs and prior to payment, I was advised by southgate audi of all extra separate issues with the car, including transmission leaks, clutch liveability at 30 - 40%, bolts that their mechanic broke off and needed replacing at my cost due to them being fused to the engine. I decided to let go of the car as it was going to be too costly to repair. They advised me that the work is almost complete and that they want to keep me and my wife happy and in the Audi family, and even gave me breaks on the repair parts and labour.
Now that the initial problem persists, and after payment for the repairs, Southgate Audi is denying knowledge of the piston misfire issue at time of repair for excessive oil consumption.
