Hello all,

Have been considering investing in a s3 or a TTS.

All i wanted to know really is, what are the general running costs.. Services, tyres ect? Not worried about MPG.

Also what are the common problems, is there anything i should look out for?

Hi,

There's quite a few threads on this sort of topic in this forum,so it's worth a search to get all of the information.

In short:

FSH
Regular servicing
Plugs
Coil Packs
Haldex service
Water pump

On uprated cars, all of the above, plus the gearbox synchros and selector forks may wear.

Otherwise,tough as old boots.

Servicing can be quite cheap if you do it regularly, and use an independent, who generally know their stuff better than dealers.

Tyres....don't waste money on ditch-finders.
Buy good quality tyres from Michelin,Goodyear,Continental etc,and budget on £150 or so each, and if you get better deals, you'll be happy.

Mine has coped with 70000+ miles, most of which has been at Stg2+ and well above.
