How hard would it be to fit roof rails to an avant without the holes drilled..? Or should it be left looking bare..?
Also it's fitted with cruise control but it doesn't seem to work. Any idea's.?

never done it but you would need to pull the door seal off and pull the roof lining down slightly and see if you have the brace points there on the roof where the bolts would go through.
I would imagine they would be there and it would just be a case of needing to drill the holes through the roof skin.

As for the Cruise, plug the car into VCDS and do a scan. It might need coding in or there may be other faults.

Is it fly by wire or cable throttle?

cable throttle on a car that age, which means its the older standalone vacuum based cruise system.

Could be a faulty control box, bad vacuum pump or various other issues.
