Only had the S3 for 3 months and kerbed one of the front alloys this morning.

A private hire taxi veered into my lane without looking or indicating and I had to slam my brakes on and either had to hit him or the kerb.

Very annoyed, but was wondering if anyone has had a repair on one of the standard 19" S3 alloys yet at either Audi or elsewhere and how much did it cost?

I'm guessing from the cut of the wheel it won't be cheap.

I got his reg number and license and can try and complain to the local council and his firm about his careless driving, which will make me feel better but I'm still going to end up paying for it.

Thanks

The Wheel Specialist in Nottingham repaired very bad kerbing on a titanium finish alloy on my last Audi (farm vehicle approached in middle of road and i had to take evasive action on just about the only stretch of that lane with a square kerb!) - they matched it perfectly so you would not notice at all and were about £80 if i remember correctly. Worth checking them out to see if they've a place near you and get a quote as i was surprised by the standard of work they could do AND the cost.

also get a car camera for next time and evidence

+1 for the wheel specialist. Their Leeds branch does all JCT, Sytner and Lawton Brook repairs, bentleys and premium cars. You're looking at around £150 for that wheel as its a metal face with a painted inner. They told me they had to fully strip the wheel and do them again to assure the finish.

Thanks, it seems there is a Wheel Specialist in Birmingham so will investigate.

Have thought about getting a camera as well, just haven't got round to it yet. There's no point claiming for a wheel on the insurance though anyway due to the excess.

This is the damage, maddens me just looking at it :mad new:

You could be lucky with that as it looks like quite a clean scrape of just the rim rather than the coloured section.

I had what looked like a wheel brace come off a truck (seemed to come off the little fork truck that attaches to the back of an HGV) and hit my windscreen a few years back (on my A3 ironically). Caused a crack the size of the base of a coke can in my windscreen. Of course you know how the noise is when just a large stone hits the windscreen, it was pants changing stuff! Anyway, their driver failed to stop despite me getting out at traffic lights to speak to him. I took details of the truck and it took me months but the company finally relented and paid my glass excess. Good luck!

wow I feel for you mate, pictures made me cringe :(

You say standard 19" is that for the saloon? Mine are 18" on the hatch!!!

I believe the main reason saloon is more expensive than the hatch/SB - 19" and mag ride are standard on the saloon.

Ahhh right thanks....may go for the saloon next time, just for the looks :) Think I'll also opt for the super sport seats...everything else will be the same apart from the colour...red next ;)
