I went to work last night and after I parked a car and strated it again I have got glow plugs light on as well as EML. On the way back home car had no power. I do not have access to vcds but using carista app I got two codes:
P0236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor "A" Circuit Range/Performance
P1430 Activation of brake vacuum pump, open or short to B+
This things are far beyond my little mechanical knowledge and I am not too sure what next.
I have managed to clear the codes with carista app and after starting the car they did not came back.
I have been afraid to take it for a spin.
My questions are:
Is it safe for the car to commute to work for few days if they came back on (20 motorway miles one way)?
Does anybody know what might be wrong?
Does anbody know any specialist close to High Wycombe or Slough?
Are this errors related to each other?
I can add that at the end of March I went to Poland and traveled 1k miles one way. Then had whole front of a car taken down to replace alternator belt. Come back to UK last week with no problem during holiday and trip back.
Please help as I am clueless.

Hi, sorry to hear about your car woes. I'm afraid I don't have the knowledge to answer your questions, other than the one about an Audi specialist in the Thames Valley region. Might be worth trying Fontain in Iver. Click here for their website.

Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge will be along shortly to help with your other questions.

Hi. Thanks for the info. I will probably give them a try as I work in colnbrook so they are on my way back home.

I am confused with the one fault code P1430 which implies that the car has an electrical motor for the vacuum pump when in fact it has a mechanical pump mounted on the back of the engine on the drivers side.
AFAIK there is no electrical control of that.
The boost sesnsor is mounted on the hose running between the intercooler and the engine on the passenger side.
You can just see it if you follow the air intake hose from the engine and look down the hose.
It's part 11 in the diagram
http://www.partsbase.org/audi/audi-a4-avant-a4-eu-2009-14595-charge-air-cooler/

It's possible that a boost hose clip has been left loose or some other issue like that if the front has been off.
Best thing to do is take it for a run and see if the code comes back, and if it does which one.
It's going into limp mode so switching it off and back on will usually get it running normally again.

Karl.

Hi Karl. Thank you very much for detailed info. I took car for the spin. Around three miles coming down and up the hills. Boot it to 3000rpm and the faults didn't come back. Fingers crossed I won't see them again.
Had a look at boost sensor and nothing seems to be loose. Only suspicious thing is that the wires from the boost sensor had been joined together after a little accident two years ago. I can see some pvc tape on them. If the errors come back I might take the arch wheel lining off and have a look at the wires inside the tape. Just an idea for the start if it happen again.

It happened again today. Glow plugs light on and car runs normally. No EML. Decided to order boost pressure sensor from audi (£64). Hope it is not my turbo dying.
I have never removed arch wheel liner. Is there anything tricky?
Is there procedure to replace this sensor or is it just plug&play?
