Quattro rear diff?

Got the common clunk coming from rear of my b6 tdi Quattro. Starting to get worse now too.

Can't see excessive play in propshaft etc.

Any thoughts?

Does anybody know if all the b6 rear diffs are same if decide to swap it out?

Done an oil change on it?

Checked the rear arb links too?

Arb links feel solid. Oil change was done few months ago.

It does it on and off throttle in high gears just lot more subtle.

Thinking has to be gearbox mount or the rear diff has finally wearing out and too much play. When car is cold it's considerably better tho.

Tyres the same make and size all round

All tires same size front and rear.

Not same tread as they changed pattern slightly.

That wouldn't make a difference in forward initial pull away though. Cornering maybe.
