122 mile round trip and I wasn't driving like a nun either. Very impressive for a car with the performance it has.
Absolute 80s on the radio, does it get any better?
This thread has had a good run without someone chirping in to tell you you've bought the wrong car if economy is important to you ;-)
Not having the aerodynamics of a breeze block helps.I'm kinda blown away that a 300hp car is likely to annihilate my 2ltr Petrol Rav4 (with it's mighty 115bhp) on fuel ecomony. Just shows what 10 years of technology in the motor industry is capable of
I'm averaging 32 over almost 10,000 miles. I drive into central London and back every day, plus a fair bit of motorway at non-economical speeds. I hammer it when I get the chance, that's not very often given the roads I drive on. I can get 40+ on a run if I drive very sensibly. If you're getting low 20s and are not ragging it constantly I'd suggest there's something wrong and I'd take it to Audi. Overall I'm really pleased with the economy, it's not much worse than my old 8P 2.0 tdi.
Dude, gas, freeway, awesome - I guess you are from across the pond?
Just to bare in mind that UK gallons are different to your US Gallons (4.5 litres vs 3.7 litres) - 30 UK MPG = 25 US MPG
Audi quote 41mpg combined for example, most owners will fall well short of that at around 26-32.
Yes, still good for a 300hp car though
Bear in mind also that US octane is not the same as EU octane, we quote RON, while in the US you have MON, which is roughly 5-6 points lower for the same fuel. So Cali 91 octane is roughly UK 96-97 octane. Not amazing, but not as terrible as you might think at first glance.yah I'm in Cali... land of watered down 91 octane. ugh.
but this is good to know... that if I want to take a lil road trip the S3 would deliver those kinds of results.
I'm so back in forth between S3 and S4 it's not even funny.
we can all drive around off boost in neutral going down hills.
ok you guys are really enlightening me about these differences in measurement UK vs USA. First, I did not know about the difference in gallon (mpg). Second, I definitely didn't know about the octane rating diff. I was wondering why APR stats claim that 93 octane produced the lowest HP rating on their chart, and I was thinking... dam... that means mine would be even LOWER than their lowest. lol
Now I see what's going on. Thanks for that info. For the record (which you probably already know) we used to have 92 octane in Cali, but they dropped it to 91 years ago. I think some other states over here can get 93.
Your wasting fuel doing that. The engine will be at idle rev's and using fuel. If you lift off and coast with the car In Gear and the clutch engaged then the engine will not use any fuel at all
