may of already been done to death, but thought id post up to be nosey

iam new to the audi scene, but loving it

had ford for best part of 6 years, have had a mag featured GTi, 2 x RS2000 and a cossie

i bought the audi because 1 i like the looks of them, 2 you can make them look good easily, and ... 3 the reliability and what they offer etc , when i left school i went and worked in a VW Audi Specilaist garage for 18 months too, but left and decided to pursue something else, but that was over 10 years ago, plus as well now i am doing the house thing now and i cant justify spending stupid amounts on cars anymore, am settling for nice and subtle and leaving it the hell alone :)

so what did you used to have before joining the Audi ownership :)

I had a Corsa to Rag about in for a few months-It was a 53 plate SRi Diesel 1.7-it did shift-before that I had 3 MINI's
Cooper
Cooper S
Diesel MINI
All great cars, my girlfriend is now expecting so needed a bigger car-opted for my current a4 Avant, lovely car, lotsof space and well built :)

mk3 8v 2.0 passat (good runner amazing long distance economy got 44mpg on the readouts and fuel bill closely matched not much more than my polo)
a6 1.8t (fwd handling understeered too much for my liking)
a6 2.7t (present ride in bits at the mo)
buick v8 lowrider (present ride great fun i actually enjoyed cruising slowly i'd recommend one to anyone seeking help for a speed addiction)

2. 1994 Seat Ibiza 2.0 GTi (purchased in 1997)
3. 1971 Beetle based Porsche 356 replica (purchased in 2001)
4. 2001 S3 (purchased in 2004)

Oh, and I still own 2 - 4!

Well i have had a few cars some better than others so here goes

First car was a VW Jetta BROWN in colour ,got it for 125 quid should of been 100 but the guy put to new remoulds on the back so i had to fork out the extra 25....lol
That car was a bag of sh*t* was working around garages then and it had this mega oil leak which i found out to be oil pressure switch but till i sussed what it was it use to do 28 MPG and 5litre of oil to every 15mile had a drum of waste oil in the car at all times :racer:.........lol......Scrap Yard followed

Next was mark 1 Fiesta 1.1 Push rod engine good enough car..could near enough strip the head with a wheel brace...... bought for 400 sold for 400

Next was a Passat GT this was a good car handled well was fast for its time ..was really lucky sold the car and it threw a conrod 200 miles later

Next was a terrible car dont ask why i bought this.......
Nissan Primera 2.016v
Cost me a fortune to look after when i look back i wonder why i spent the money on it :banghead:

Woke up.......:keule:
Audi 100 2.8 Q nice car engine was smooth as could not fault it

Audi (100) S4 (Which i still have) spec below

Renault Clio for town journeys save on Petrol ..timing belt snapped engine goosed parts on E-bay

Audi A4 TDi Avant (which i still have)

1st car was a 1980 Ford Fiesta that had had the 1.3 supersport engine and Ghia interior transplanted (it was actually badged as a 1.1L - great fun with the Nova brigade!).
Next was a 1983 'A' reg VW Polo 'breadtin' thing. 1.0 so it wouldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding but was bought as a birthday present so didn't complain (too much).
Then was a 1991 Polo Coupe. Again a 1 litre (should have learnt from the last one but hey - that's life).
Traded that in for a 1995 Peugeot 306 DTurbo. Wick as buggery and handled well too. Dunno why I got rid to be honest but...
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v GLS, 1995 was next. Umpteen problems with this, mainly EGR valves - ate them for breakfast.
Got fed up with that and moved onto a 1997 Vectra 2.0Di Arctic special edition. Kept that for two years and had Vauxhall spend about £2.5k on it under warranty then the other half naffed off so had to sell it. Ended up using Dad's '93 Corsa 1.5TD for about 12 months until I bought the Audi.
Not looked back since (until now!).

How about a BROWN Austin Allegro 1.5 Twin Cam (1981) for a first car, bought in 1992 – jealous eh? Quite quick actually, bounced round corners and wouldn’t change down into second gear but had the comfiest back seats ;-)
Black XR3 (1984) – rolled it on a roundabout after a month – ouch!
Then my favourite, Red MG Maestro 1600 (1983) with digital dash and twin Weber 40s – loved it and didn’t resent spending £30 every couple of weeks on spares!
Couple more Escorts
A red Mini 1275cc with cherry bomb exhaust – loads of fun, cost £400 and when the gear box went after a couple of months sold it for £200
MG Metro (1989) – great car – got me to south of France (on black ice) and back no problem, quick too – had 125 (according to dash!) on a downhill stretch of road
VW Golf 1,400cc (1988) – more of a tank than a car.
Toyota Celica (1991) – black one with the poppy up headlights
A3 1.8 T Quattro (2002) – the quickest and safest one yet!

Errm, I think that’s all – am I the only one who’ll own up to owning a brown Allegro?

Vauxhall Nova 1.0 (base model) was my first car.

Vauxhall Nova 1.4 SR, bought new August 1990.
Had it 6+ years, modded the hell out of it, had it tested / featured in CCC Mag...sold it when Novas got popular with the chavs.

1993 Mk3 Golf GTI, Satin Silver, 5 dr. Great car...bought it at 2 1/2 years old from my Dad.
Also bought a Honda Fireblade...

1999 Honda Integra Type-R, white...bought new September 1999, Wrote it off 20 months later. Sadly missed...a fantastic car.

Audi S3, Nogaro Blue. Bought new in May 2001 to be 'safe' after writing off the ITR and crashing the freblade one too many times (Fireblade also sold).
Modded the hell out of that too...great car....but lacking a certain something.
Sold it to DavidR in September 2004.

Also added a 1996 Mk3 Golf GTI 16v Anniversary, Satin Silver, 5 dr. Another great car...bought it at 4 years old from my Dad, who I convinced to buy it to replace the last GTI I bought off him!
Still got the GTI...probably always will...

Collected my Porsche 996 C4S in December 2004. Probably the best car in the world...love it to bits.

In amongst this lot there have been several "ex's" cars which I've driven / looked after / modified...including a Nova 1.3 SRs, Peugeot 105 XSI, SEAT Ibiza 2.0 16v Cupra Sport, VW Lupo GTI and audi A2.

Then there was my trackday / sprint Fiesta XR2...full cage, Emerald cam, twin 40s etc..

Too much money spent... :)

And worth every penny! - correct Glen? :racer:

Absolutely!

In my slightly tainted and currently biased view...much better value than a woman.

Cars don't leave you, f**k up your life or try to take everything / half of everything that means anything to you when it all goes pear shaped.

Thus, spending obscene amounts of money on cars can only be a good thing...you end up happier and less bitter...even when depreciation and stupidity are taken into account.

Not to mention how good fun cars can be...I wouldn't change anything I've done car or bike wise...for anything.

Been driving for 3 years now

1st car - M reg Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 GLS <<< Written off

2nd car - L reg Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 LS Auto

1996 Vauxhall - Cavalier, 1.8 GL (Used this car to build a no claims discount)

1976 Opel Ascona 1.9SR
1977 Fiesta 1.1S
1982 Vauxhall Astra 1.3GL
1983 Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6L

The years are when the cars were made, not when I bought them. As you can see, a predominance of GM products, and one or two absolute aberrations along the way, before making the move to Audi.
