Checked with VCDS as my car is idling and misfiring badly and came up with
17748/P1340/004928 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation
I replaced cam and crank sensors, as a straight forward job and the same fault occurs.
Just removed cam cover and noticed the inlet cam is out of phase. I`m assuming the chain has stretched or the tensioner is faulty.
Next job remove chain cover and replace chain and tensioner, the only snag would be the cam locking tool, maybe a long shot, but is their anyone in the Portsmouth area with a camshaft locking tool that I could borrow, or for a small hire charge, I could fabricate one without any trouble but its knowing the right dimensions.
