2005 allroad 2.5 dti will not start

Drove my 2005 allroad to work yesterday but it would not start again, called out the AA who got a fault code, "0226 start of injector controle above controle limit."
I need some help please does anyone know what this means please?,.
car has been very good and has 123000 on the clock the AA man did get it to run by spraying something into the air intake but he turned it off and told me it was pinking and the injector timing seemed to have gone out.

It looks like the pump jumped timing or the pump has died...it will need checking by someone that really knows what they are doing as it can be hit and miss to troubleshoot remotely !
