Right so my 2001 AMK S3 1.8T was in for NCT(Irish MOT) during the week and failed on emissions:

Readings as follows:

Low idle 760 rpm
CO 0.97 vol%(limit 0.50%)- FAIL

High idle 2590 rpm
Lambda 0.97 (limit 0.97 & 1.03)- PASS
CO 1.04 vol%(limit 0.30%)- FAIL
HB 91 ppm- Limit 200 ppm- PASS

Car was running on LPG for test so petrol readings are probably worse than above.

Car is not boosting properly at low RPM i.e. 2.5k RPM to 4k RPM which lead me to think it maybe the CAT is gone however there are no fault codes showing.

I did find however find when trying to peform testing in Blocks 34/Block 46 VCDS would start the testing no problem i.e. (pressing brake and holding revs at above 2.5k rpm) but it will never complete the test, instead the car will begin to overheat and the turbo will be glowing red so have to just abort the test, does someone know what is causing this or is this part of my overall problem?

Any help much appreciated.

Kev

Most likely would be the cats, but would of thought your post cat 02 sensor would pick that up and give a code.
