2.0 TDI Engine cover

Last time car was in garage they scratched the plastic engine cover (you know the silver and black thing that your dipstick and oil cap stick out of with audi logo on?) Anyway I don't accept tatty workmanship like this so i have demanded a new one and they have replaced it with an ALL black one - they say that is all that is available now is this right?

Anyone with a brand spanking new A3 2.0 TDI can confirm this to be true or false? Much prefered the silver and black ones.

I've just swapped my 53 plate 2.0Tdi for an 05 2.0Tdi Sportback and one of the things I noticed was that the engine cover is now an all black one.
Must be standard now.

My March 05 2 litre petrol has the engine designation and logo on it.

must be something about mechanics not liking engine covers.

last time mine was in, they lost a rubber grommit and snapped one of the fixing screws. Useless gits. Couldn't be bothered with arguing with them, just bought another off ebay for the parts..
