Hi all,
Newbie here having a few issues with my 2003 Audi A6 1.9tdi manual gearbox.
For the last couple of weeks i have had difficulty selecting 6th gear but just put this down to me not being used to the car (it's new to me). Last night i was suddenly unable to select 5th or 6th and then had real difficulty in getting any gear.
Currently it’s very tricky to select 1st, 2nd and reverse – by tricky I mean the gearstick sticks a bit in the gear you are in, and then sticks a bit as you leave neutral going to into the next gear – and when in any of these gears the stick has loads of play.
3rd and 4th seem to be fine – easy to select and hardly any play when selected – except they are now positioned where 5th and 6th used to be. 5th and 6th are not selectable.
If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative to hear them. If this is something I could fix myself I would like to have a go – not a mechanic but not a total ham-fisted monkey either, and have done a few jobs successfully on the car thus far.
Thanks in advance
