Best panel filter

Hi all,
can anyone tell me the best panel filter to use on my 2.0 TDI , I was thinking maybe K&N or pipercross, any one got either one of these,

pipercross for me, lets less dirt in and doesn't void warranties.

£5 oem air filter from ECP. Change every 12 months. Forget about marketing from K&N, PiperCross and the others.

Iv always been a K&N man but Iv heard good things about pipercross,

I've just binned the K&N fitted to my 3.2.
Car runs a lot sweeter without it and a OEM filter in it's place.

the pipercross is less restrictive so you can pick up a little power at the expense of filtration.

For me they are pointless for road cars, the standard paper filter does not restrict the air flow to the engine and will be fine even if the car has been mapped petrol or diesel.

Issues with the oil filters are

Over oiling the filter so reducing air intake
under oiling the filter, so more crud getting into the engine
oil getting on the MAF killing the MAF
Cost of buying cleaning fluid for the filter should be cleaned at least once a year
Cleaning the filter and waiting for it to dry (either spend time with a hair dryer or leave overnight) so car off the road
Makes sod all difference to the BHP of the car

All Audi RS models run paper filters and some of them are running 500+Bhp without any problems

my pipercross filter is foam with no oil at all, and the car made about 5hp more at the top end with up to 7hp in the mid range.

My pipercross increased mpg by 1-2 mpg, noticed an improvement straight away.

JR filters are worth looking at there was a very good independent test one and they out performed most other filters including k&n. They are also sold under the jetex brand they are a good price from here
