Question about Side Mirror Glass?

Evening,

Could anyone enlighten me what this is to the rear of the side mirror glass?
It's housed in the plastic backplate. Small metal cylinder shaped. From what I can see, it's connected to the heated glass circuit, so it's possibly powered.



This is on the Offside Mirror. Located on the top right hand corner.



As far as I'm aware it's the orginal mirror and it's off a prefacelift.

Reason for the concern, is that the face of the mirror has discoloured, so brought new aftermarket mirrors which doesn't have the circular item in question.

Only guess it's a external temperature sensor.

Done some Internet browsing, and all I can find but not a definite answer, is its a thermistor which basically is a sensor to automatically active the heated mirrors.....

you are right It is a thermistor. The mirrors from ecp have them. I found all the aftermarket mirrors were the wrong colour either to dark tint or no tint at all. I ended up getting a genuine one just cause the colour difference from the opposite mirrors was bugging me.
