Manual gearbox oil

My mate has just bought a b8 2.0 140 saloon fwd

He's been complaining that 1st and second gear are abit 'tight'

It only has 40 something thousand Mike on it from new. So I'm wondering would a gearbox oil change be worth it? And if so what's the best oil for it?

Now I know Karl done some testing on this but his is 3.0 Quattro, @dessertstorm if your there

What's the oem oil spec or part number ?

Couldn't tell ya mate

That's as much info as I got of him.
There's no evidence of it being done in the service history though.

Il get him to check to owners manual for the oil spec though
