first time posting still figuring this out nevermind my headlights !! so anyhow I bought a set of sline headlights for my 2011 SE a4 and I just need someone to give me clear instructions on what next I'm reading things and they're all over the show its mainly the wiring and coding I need explained I just bought the adapters and are waiting for them . many thanks !

Do you have VCDS? Do you have Elsawin? Did you check the part numbers of the headlights before purchasing?

not sure what any of these are ? and no didn't check :coldsweat:

see I got the headlights for cheap I've examined them alls in them and the glass on the front is barely scratched so I couldn't let it pass me spontaneous buy

You'll struggle to do anything without the first two. You should always check part numbers as you may have bought LHD headlights or the more complicated adaptive versions. What are they out of curiosity?

can you explain what thelse first 2 actually are ? and LHD I'm a Virginia to these phrases lol it was an add on eBay a 2010 s line the back of the lights have only one plug socket which I bought the adapter for ill post pictures later tonight if that's any help ?

I do know local mechanics with these machines actually I just Google them 2 things !

VCDS is a diagnostic tool for the VAG group of cars, it allows coding and adaptions of the software in your car. Elsawin is a dealer level program including access to wiring diagrams for each VAG car.

LHD is left hand drive. You need RHD right hand drive headlights as the beam is different.

You should never impulse buy unless you know exactly what you're buying and have the tools to retrofit the item.

my intentions where to buy the lights and take them to audi to fit ? they come for a RHD

Audi won't fit them. If I were in your shoes I'd be letting a local Audi/VW specialist to do the job as they'll have the equipment needed.

I fitted mine myself as I had the programs and resources to do so.

Yeah rang audi there now they don't want to tamper with the set controls , will get looking now to see who is about . appreciate your help very much, thanks !

Where abouts are you. There are people on the forum who do retrofits like this.

Fairly straightforward. Buy wiring harness. Get someone with vcds to program. Swap lights

Don't you also need washer jets and leveling motors?

I think strictly speaking in the UK to be 100% you would need to install the self levelling and washers as well. I have never had an issue fitting HID bulbs to headlights that have projectors. As long as the beam pattern is good the place I take my cars for MOT have never said anything.
People who put HID's in normal reflector headlights are a different story. The beam pattern is never usually good and they just dazzle other road users.

No

U.K. Law says if levellers and washer installed they must work
But the tester may not be able to confirm this and Benidorm of the doubt must be given

So you don't need but if there they must work

Op wireing loom adaptor and vcds is all you need

Facelift is a lot more involved
