R- TECH performance

Thought I would chime in here as I have ran both Revo 2+ and also R Tech software.

My car is a 2011 DSG S3.

Revo performed as it should for me at stage 1, had it mapped at the same time as having the Revo CAI fitted, which I also have no issues with.

Revo 2+ was rubbish for me, made 340bhp and seemed to be torque limited at around 310lb/ft even after having their DSG map flashed - was not impressed with their 2+ map at all, it barely felt much of an improvement over Stage 1. I even took it to their HQ which was where the guys there had the car to map the DSG box, I had the ECU done at a good VW specialist close to me and even they couldn't understand why it didn't make more power. Those measures were also from two different rolling roads.

I got fed up after a month or so and was recommended to go to R Tech. Niki knows his stuff, I went there for a chat initially but he impressed me, told me to get the car flashed back to standard maps for both ECU and DSG then get booked in with him.

I went back a few weeks later and had the DSG map done, then a couple of weeks later again to have the ECU map done. The car then made ~370bhp and ~390lb/ft of torque, was a completely different animal to the Revo 2+ map.

That was my experience, some may see it as brutal but it's honest. Still annoyed I paid all that money for a Revo map and it didn't perform anywhere near what it should have - wasn't worth kicking up a fuss as I would have only got the incremental monies back as I have no issues with their Stage 1 map.

After my experience I will always use a custom mapper going forward now.

Custom all the way. Generic maps are cool for your standard stage 1 stuff with maybe a filter and cat back, but once you change a load of other parts, you want to make sure they are all calibrated to the ECU properly.

Best thing about r-tech, aside from their awesome service and results, is the fact they are always developing their maps. A lot of dealers have now given TFSI engines a back seat and moving onto other makes/models/engines.

Go R-tech, you seriously wont be disappointed.

Hmmmmm. Think I'll just go r tech then. Not overly happy with my revo dsg map as feel like car holding back and it changes gear at some random points sometimes. After that review by dean who has had both think I'll go r tech for 2+ mapping

Right well because of this thread I've just booked my car in for a stage 1 map :)
