Hi I'm fairly new to audi mods and up to now have fitted the following :-
Cobra cat back S/S exhaust ,K& N panel filter ,APR Carbonio air box .
My insurance company knows about these simple mods ,
however when I contacted them with the idea of fitting a GFB DV+ they said
they could not insure my car.
Has anyone else had this when fitting a GFB
I like to keep things legal

Did you tell them that you want to install an updated diverter valve or GFB DV+? Could it be that the numpty that was operating the computing machine didn't know what it was and just defaulted to saying 'no'?

Sent from a mobile devices, please forgive typos :)

I told them I wanted to install aGFB DV+ but they thought it was a dump valve or blow off valve

In my eyes its a more efficient diverter and not a modification that is more reliable than an oem one. I wouldn't even mention it.

I would agree with @audismart as far as it not really being a performance mod, although if insurer states that all modifications must be declared this would qualify.

Did they say if they would insure you if it came as an aftermarket dump valve? It sort of performs the same function, albeit in a different way.

Where do you stop on modifications, aftermarket tyre valve dust caps, run flat tyres, aftermarket cd changer, different grill, flat bottom steering wheel, common sense prevails.

For the sake of it I would just get the latest DV as the gains are minimal if I dare say any (I have a DV+ btw)

Technically any change, however small, from original manufacturer's specification is a modification whichever way you look at it. All I'll say is that speaking to your insurer is how you decide whether something needs to be declared or not.

Winter tyres , remember that debacle ! During that debate someone said that any tyre summer or winter not recommended by the manufacturer could actually be classed as a non standard modification ? As above speak to your insurer , not worth the risk ....

If you have any insurance problems, speak to Greenlight.

They'll know exactly what you're talking about, and will give a you very decent rate.
Mine, with all the mods declared was £600

You should in theory tell your insurance company about any mods, especially one's that are classed as performance related of which this is, however I for one will not be telling mine when I get a GFB DV+.

Nice! I take it these guys aren't on comparison websites and you have to call them to get a quote?

Pretty much....they act as brokers, and find a good deal for you.
Mine for instance is through a very well known company that nominally won't touch modified cars, but via specialist brokers will insure a reliable driver(me..!) for a very good price.

To get a deal costing basically £1/bhp is pretty good.

Haha yes that is very good, especially when you put it like that!

Cool, cheers for the info.
