First time, popped to the local pub for lunch, got back in car to a dead battery. RAC man put his money on duff battery (it's about old enough), but after a jump everything checked out ok and sure enough it behaved for another 10 days.
Cue a trip to Thorpe Park and after an overnight stay in the hotel we got back to the car to find, yup, another flat battery. This time poor performance from the RAC meant a hefty delay considering I just wanted a jump again.
Still, had time (while SO took the kids back into the park to kill time) to generally listen to the cricket and fiddle with the car. Noticed that SO had left vanity mirror open on sun blind. Decided to leave it and lock car as normal, checked light - still on at around 25% brightness with everything locked up, opened car and door and it popped up to full brightness. Sure enough, car has been fine since, although seeing as we're on holiday with it I've been regularly (verbally) slapping the SO as she still forgets to close the mirror.
Any thoughts on a cure (other than removing the LED)? Might be related but the drivers side popped the LED (T8ups supplied) turning it brown and there's been no voltage to that light since, but that was about 2 years ago.
No other symptoms (such as door warnings on the DIS).
Don't really know where to start, would assume the sun blind mirror switch isn't powered while the ignition is on.
