Morning all,

Just wondering what cars you've all had prior to your Audi? I've got an s3 and I've had:

Renault Clio
Peugeot 306
Honda Civic type r ep3

Cheers!

Fiesta 1.1 lx

Mondeo 2.0 petrol

Fiesta ST (when the modding bug started)

Ep3 type R

Focus ST (still miss the sound)

Impreza STi WR1

Just see your wr1 , always wanted one but they started climbing in price . I have had trouble adapting to the s3 after having the Evo. It's just not as performance focused

Yeah the S3 feels pretty numb in comparison, as you say they are such raw machines though... Hardly any sound proofing etc... Mine was on a fast road setup of coilovers as well it held the road so well, you can literally feel them extracting grip from the road.. Thats the main difference probably the feel...

Same here, set up as fast road and it just wanted to be pushed harder into corners. Haldex doesn't seem to do anything through the corners . It was running 380/370 so it had a nice bit of power. The only down side was the two engine rebuilds and servicing every 4500 miles

Haha mine was fairly standard power wise just the standard 320/310 but it was short geared so really went... I think my stage 2 S3 is probably quicker from 60-70 on than the impreze but it doesn't feel it really...

Off the line the Evo was brutal, I need to get a map on mine to hopefully open it up a bit more. Cursed with warranty at the moment though. Does stage 2 make it feel like a quick car?

I've had a good 15 + cars in my time but the car before my current A3 was a Skoda Fabia vRS. Purchased it brand new in 2004 and in the 12 years of ownership it never, ever let me down. It was lovely to drive and its torque took many other road users by surprise.

So far, the vRS is by far the best car I have ever owned, so much so that I am seriously considering going back to Skoda for my next car.

Yeah the remap makes a huge diffeeence, it doesn't make it feel like a different car but there is just more of everything everywhere basically...

I'm at stage 1+ and it is quick, just fitted coilovers and its amazed me how much the quicker the car is when you able to go quicker everywhere because it handles a lot better.

As I am a wrinkly, this list goes back a long way with some vintage machinery. However, at the time I was very happy with every one I bought. Modding in the early days often involved fitting extra lights, a rev counter, a heated rear window, a radio or painting the wheels a different colour!

As you can see Rover featured heavily. We could get the factory discount that meant virtually free motoring if they were bought and sold every 12 months. Lots of warranty claims on the Rovers, I could see why they went out of business. The Mini started to go rusty around the rear screen within 12 months.

Ford Corsair
Triumph Toledo
MG Metro
Ford Escort 1.6 Ghia
Mini Chelsea
Metro 1275 Sport
Metro GTI
Metro GTA
Rover 216
Rover 214 SEi
Rover 114 GTA
Golf GTI MK 4 1.8T (Still got it as my daily driver, bought in 1998)
Audi S3 8P

There have been others that I have run as 2nd cars or registered to my wife. At the moment she has a TT 2.0.
As I look back, the list is not impressive, however, mortgages to pay and 2 boys to bring up meant that the cash had to go a long way.
My eldest son who is 22 has already had more cars than me!

Vauxhall corsa c 1.0ltr (first car still own it for some reason)
vw golf mk2 gti (loved this owned it for 2 years then just before Christmas I sadly had an accident 2015)
skoda fabia vrs (never really liked this didn't know why you would want a fast diesel hatchback December 2015-june-2016)
audi a3 sline 1.6 (always wanted a a3 in this spec since passing my test) loads of modification to do on this

next car will be an Audi huge fan of them but being 21 I think I have had too many already.

I owned one but it wasn't to my liking it had plenty of power and surprised most people as you said but it would have been better if the put the 1.8ltr 20valve turbo in it

Some pretty impressive lists there!

The one i miss the most is my Supercharged V6 4mo Bora - 272bhp in a 4wd bora - it was a great sleeper.

specs i can remember...

vortech V9 charger
Boxster S brakes
BBS RC's
Koni !1150 coilvers
Factory xenons and recaros (super rare)
Milltek exhaust
GLI face lift rear lights.

I had it from 2008 to 2010 and it was the only supercharged V6 Bora (or even Trubo'd at the time) that i knew of in the UK and Ireland, definitely the fastest bora in the West lol,

That's nice.

I do like the idea of sleepers, and your Bora meets that very well.

My most fun car,and maybe the one I miss the most some days was the GpN Escort.
It was totally impractical and unbelievably loud inside or outside the car,it spat flames and drank petrol at a rate you can't believe,as well as eating parts, but it really was fun.

It was actually not as bad as you might think (even with over 400Bhp) and it was a very good car to drive as the power delivery from the supercharger was very linear.
I had 275/35/19's on the rear so the traction off the line was also very good with an estimated 0-62Mph of around 4 - 4.5sec (roughly at a guess) and a top end speed of over 175mph as that is what it was geared to do in 6th, so definitely supercar speeds imo.

Cheers it sounded fantastic in person especially with the Berks De-Cats I was running, ...got away with running it on Castle Combe but afterwards I got pulled in for another sound test as it was too loud on the fly-bys past the sound checks. :(
You can hear it pretty well around 19 seconds into this video another Zed owner took of my Zed at Combe as I accelerate away from Quarry Corner.

I was considering the 350z, drove 2 of them but was underwhelmed! Didn't feel that quick. One was a proper rude boys car and he wanted far too much money for it.

That's a shame.
Essentially you have the early 350's (2002/3-2006) which are VQ35DE variants ~ 276Bhp, then there's the VQ35DE RevUp (2006-2007) ~ 296Bhp followed by the VQ35HR (2007-2009) which is around 313Bhp.

Mine was a 2003 DE 350Z Coupe and as standard the performance should have been giving out a 0-60mph time of around 5.7 seconds odd. Either the ones you drove were down on power (does happen as cars get older) or the more linear power delivery from the N/a engine just made it seem underwhelming for you.
I'm slightly biased towards them but I definitely think they're great cars. :D ;)

I drove the 313bhp ones I think as that's all I was interested in. You're probably right, no sudden turbo shove and they're quite heavy. Nice cars to look at though, but I settled on the Audi in the end.
