Do you know where about Dean? I guess it's under radio but does it come under coding or long coding?

You do it in the hidden menu once you have enabled that. 'onofftimer'. 30 mins is the max.

To increase radio play time after car is turned off:

In the Hidden Menu:

MMI 2G:
"MMI->SETTINGS->Standby Timer" - will allow you to hear e.g. Radio or CD longer before MMI shutdown (if ignition is OFF) - default 10 min. and the max. is 60 min.

MMI 3G:
From the main screen select 'onofftimer', set 'Standby delay'. The maximum value is 30 minutes.

i would like to do this aswell but think I must be thick can't find this in the settings ?

You need to enable the engineering (green) menu via vcds first. It's in there.

Have you got vcds/vagcom?

Vcds is a cable you plug into your diagnostics port and software on your laptop.

Lots of people have it and there is a thread somewhere that lists them
