Aluminium roof rails

hi
i've the option to get these on an A3 sportback
what is the point of these, just to make it easier to put your roof bars on?
they're not needed for roof bars are they?

No the bars can grip without them.They use a recess when you open the door

I love Audi roof rails. I'd get them even if I'll never use them lol

Yeah, roof rails make it simpler to fit roof bars, but also make sportback look a little sleeker in my opinion.

Roof rails are a bit of a job to fit, you have to drop your roof lining out for a start, they do improve the look of the a3 sportback, but I wouldn't buy a car just because they had rails and miss out on other more worthwhile options.
