a3 Sportback right rear light cluster

Has anyone replaced the entire assembly? I have a continuing problem with one of the bulbs disengaging and after checking it out noticed that the housing for the bulb is damaged. can I replace that one housing or do I need to replace the whole assembly?

I have both sides if it's the part on the boot lid if that's any help to you.

I can find the parts. I'm more interested to know if I need to replace just the bulb housing or the whole assembly and how involved the job is if I do it myself.
