Hey all,

Got some misting and markings on the inside of my passenger headlamp, is there any resolution for this except for replacing the whole thing?

It's almost like there's a dried up ring from where the beam has hit the glass and dried up any condensation that was in there, it's almost like a stain.

Thanks

Take the unit apart and clean the inside of the lens?

Am I right in reading that you have to put the headlamp in the oven at 120 degrees? O_O

I don't know if I'm prepared to do that lol, is there a guide on how to get the headlamp out? And what's the best to clean the inside of the lens with, an alcohol wipe or something non-marking like glass cleaner?

Had problems with condensation on an A2 headlight. Dried it out with a hairdryer, then dropped a couple if sachets of silica gel under the rubber access cover to absorb any future moisture.

......... a wee 'heads up' if you do decide to undertake this yourself :

Be very careful with the inner chromed / silvered sections if present, the coating is very easy to damage by rubbing, solvents or detergents. If the are any dust or marks, I'd first try to use a quick blast of air or a soft brush ( nick one of the good lady's makeup brushes - get revenge for her trashing your razor ;) ) and def. be careful that you don't get stray stringy bits of the butyl sealing product onto the inner silvered faces from between the glass and the body when splitting them - that would be a ' are to clean off the reflector etc.

I'm going to speak to my local Audi specialist and see if they can do it for me at a reasonable cost, if not I'll have a go myself.

Thanks for the guides, really helpful :)
