Hey guys I've got two questions im replacing the thermostat + o-ring today and was wondering can I change it without loosing too much coolant ? Or is it best to flush whole system first then remove the stat housing /stat o-ring then obviously refill coolant
Car is a4 b6 with avf pd130 engine
I've got genuine parts

I always try to keep coolant loss to a minimum by loosening the headertank cap to release pressure before I start working on the coolant system. Use genuine VAG G13 to refill.

Thanks for the quick reply Paul will a lot of coolant come out once stat housing is removed ? Also will it be a constant flow

Coolant should be replaced every 5 years. I use Comma G30 available from most car parts spares places.
You won't lose that much coolant if you don't want to drain it, just release any pressure in the system and then put tghe top back on the coolant bottle to reduce the loss. Make sure you put the thermostat in the right way.

All sorted sitting nicely at 90 now :) thanks for the info guys much appreciated
