Folks,

Dropped my car off at the garage as im away for a few weeks and got them to check it over for me.
Front and rear brake backing plate shields , is this an mot requirement...
Also bushes in the front suspension arms, whats the best option. Replace with new arms and lower ball joints or replace the bushes....any advice appreciated. Also is it a pig of a job for either fitting new ones or replacing the bushes.

Thanks

I just dumped my backing plates they were rusty - they are not an MOT requirement.

Local garage pushed a new set of bushes into my arms , otherwise , its a new set of arms , changed the bearings at the same time, when I fitted the new suspension pack, back end of last year ..depends if the arms are in good condx or not .. also found the front struts top bearings totally destroyed as well .. car's steady as a rock now .. all part of the catch up with the previous owners , neglect, ****-up's , bodge jobs and other assorted mysteries ,embodied in the vehicle ...

Buy bushes... Get them pressed in... Cast S3 arms are not cheap to replace
