Mine is the opposite, it is permanently lit due to a fault with the inclination sensor! 
The alarm system takes in a number of variables especially from door locks to confirm the doors are closed etc.
I'd still be getting it scanned though, will narrow your fault down a lot!

Yes the alarm still works..... ive sat in the car alarmed it and the sensors pick me up when i move about... whats the alarm feature fredrik ?

I was just wondering if the sensors did not activate, if the alarm it self was enabled. However, you answered both my questions.
So it do seem like it could just be the blinking LED that needs to be replaced.
