I got a message on my car yesterday that my service is due in 1000 miles. I have just over 9000 on the clock just now. Do i need to take it to an Audi dealer for the service? Also any recommendations in glasgow would be appreciated

It's not a service as such more like a inspection £180, where you take it for a service/inspection is entirely up to you l took my car to Hamilton Audi twice

Thanks jassy i was thinking of Hamilton as thats where i bought it from. Will give them a ring to book it in

Will that not be an oil change of the car is on the fixed service regime?

If you find Audi too expensive try searching for a specialist Audi garage near you.

Im not too sure to be honest, its my 1st brand new car so a bit miffed as to how everything works when it comes to servicing ect

If you do 10k or under per year you should be on a yearly service/oil change. First service is just oil/filter change and a look around the car/checks. The second is the same plus pollen filter.

I was like you with my first service thinking keep it with the main dealership to keep the warranty and get the best px price later on. I paid just over £200 for the first service/inspection.

After a lot of reading on these forum, a message to Audi UK (reply below) I took it to an Audi specialist for my second service, as you can see there is a big difference in price:

2nd service prices:
Cheshire Oaks Audi: £365
Crewe Audi: £401.19
Liverpool Audi: £439.80
'Unit20' who is an Audi specialist £220.

This is the reply I received from Audi Uk when I asked if I'm OK to use a non main dealership:

As for future PX prices, don't worry as Audi offer the lowest price out there anyway!!! 'We Buy Any Car' are offering me £1,000 more than Audi and that is with me wanting to buy another Audi off them!!!

This weekend I took it to a performance car specialist, he quoted me £1,500 more than Audi just to buy it off me. He also mentioned that as long as the service has been done on time and proof can be shown it doesn't alter the price he'd give me for the car, they all go on CAP prices, so an Audi history wouldn't bump up his offer!

This may be of interest in Glasgow https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1251430

Just rang Hamilton and they want £250

Way too much, I'm paying £180.33 for my first oil change on my S3 in October... that's through Audi dealer aswell.
Yeah i wouldnt pay that, told them i would go elsewhere. I found another place in glasgow that uses audi genuine parts and is £150

still worth a try...?

like i said they price matched for me against online prices, which it doesn't state they will do

I dont have a written quote though to prove it. I have it booked in for tomorrow morning

pants.... i'd be interested to know how an independent register your service, as you don't have a book anymore...

Make sure you get PROOF that they used genuine VAG items (oil filter) and approved spec oil. If you have a warranty issue later down the line Audi will demand to see this, otherwise they will tell you tough luck.

I rang Audi back and asked about the price match and they said i need written proof ect which i knew, the lady was much more helpfull than the guy i spoke to this morning, she said i can reset the message on the car myself and the oil can do up to 19000 miles but if it does really need it it wont let me reset. So i cancelled my appointment. I have got it booked in for a free of charge update and health check though with Hamilton

Mines on 2 year or 19,000 but I think it’s variable depending on your journies, get a written quote and take it in :)

Car has just gone is for a free MMI system update and a free health check, hopefully everything goes ok with it and i dont need anything done to it

Just a thought that if it's 15 miles from Hamilton Audi, why not phone up and do the same at Glasgow Audi? surely it cant still be 15 miles away? or is the place not actually in Glasgow and on the outskirts? If your still struggling you should just Google Audi specialist in Glasgow, I'm sure you will be able to find one within 15miles.

Hope they don't wash it :p
Nope they didnt. Told them when i booked it in and made sure i mentioned it before i checked it was on the paperwork before i signed and i put my sign up on the mirror saying not to wash... just to be sure :whistle2:

Mines dues it's second service (18,000 miles) and been quoted £325 at wearside, unfortunately Teesside and Newcastle are part of the same group so no opportunity to shop around at an approved dealership. I'm doing around 10-11k per year so didn't know if I just drop onto annual?

Anyone gone about getting a written quote? Guess kwik-fit and the likes are wise to it?

I think fixed is 12 months or 9k miles whichever comes first.
