Hi all

Lost boost on car so booked it in they scanned it and it's come back with inlet manifold. Do I go for new inlet manifold for £900 or runner flap delete and map for £500. Anyone had runner flap delete done ? And would this problem cause no boost

If I had to replace the inlet manifold I would get a large capacity aftermarket one rather than the stock one

Runner flap delete will need the car mapped specifically for that in order to idle or cold start properly,but it will work.

So long as it's simply the runner flap motor that's failed,it may not be that expensive to fix,and I'd advise ensuring it's that,or the manifold itself that has leaked at some point.
A leak could cause loss of boost certainly.

Have you also checked all of the other hoses etc?....and what was the fault code?

An aftermarket manifold will cost around £1200 and would also require the RFD kit plus mapping.
I'm not sure I'd go for that unless your eventual aim is a lot of power.
 
Surely you can pick up a 2nd hand unit and swap it over???
£900 hard earned seem a lot of money to fork out, have you done your own vcds check for fault codes and is it a indipendant specialist doing the work?
 
It's a independent specialist i haven't got any way of doing vcds check myself. Just thinking of getting the runner flap delete done. And hope this is the problem of the loss of power

check out the vcd's map on the site as there may be someone local to you who is willing to do an auto scan for a few beer tokens
