1.6 Clutch replacement mileage?

My a3 is just about to hit 117k, I'm not sure how it was driven by the previous owner (not well to my knowledge), how long should the standard clutch last before needing a replacement?

There is no set mileage.

I'm aware of that, I was wondering is 117k is a lot because I think it's on it's last legs now

There is no set service life for a clutch, its replaced along with the flywheel just when it becomes uncomfortable to drive.

Many years ago when I was a boy, the elderly lady in the house opposite had a Morris Minor. The sound of her reversing down the drive was similar to a jet just before take off. She had a new clutch fitted every year!
