After a weekend of negotiations, I placed my order today (not via Worcester Audi) and got a STONKING £5275 / 10% off!! Hard to believe I know and much more than I could have hoped for, but just goes to show what you can achieve if you take the right approach!

Yeah I’ve bought my last 3 cars from Scott at Audi Worcester in the last 2 years

That certainly is a great discount.

What sort of approach do you use? I’ve put an order in and got hardly anything off not even freebies thrown in? Where do I stand to try negotiate something now? Seeing as some people are getting decent offers

Cancel the order and contact my guy ar Worcester Audi

Funnily enough my Dealer contacted me today & offered a great deal if I would consider a face lift.

I told him not right now as I want to know the brake issue is eradicated so want to see how FL owners get on.

But signs are there now deals to be done & some Dealers chasing orders.

I was offered similarly large discounts, heading up towards 9%, admittedly knowing the dealer quite well. They can be achieved. It amazes me when I read people are getting zero discount.

Early adopters always pay a premium though .... & Dealers know this !

Can I ask what dealer that is ?

Having placed an order for a new A4 Advant BE for my wife a few weeks back I certainly expected a better service than what they have provided in my attempted RS3 purchase. It wasn't just the level of discount offered -3% - it was more that when I spoke to their RS specialist that they had no cars available only to drop in and find that they do. If I wasn't 4 weeks from the other car being delivered I would have told them to do one

A bit of info to help those trying to negotiate the best deal and what realistically you can aim for. The dealers margins on the RS3 (applicable to UK dealers) is around 12% on a cash purchase (other RS ranges I assume will be more) and with finance deals it will be slightly higher as they get a % from the finance company which in turn might earn you a higher % discount. There is no contribution to any discount on the RS3 by Audi themselves, at least not at this early stage of release, albeit only a face-lift, so any discount you get will be directly from the dealers own purse. I got extremely lucky with my deal, especially since they had no reason to reward me so generously. I have never bought from them or used them before so they owed me nothing for loyalty (certainly earned my loyalty now) and came as a big surprise to get the deal I did, even more so since they were first reluctant to even give 5%! I know I got the best I could when other dealers called that level of discount bonkers and by my calculations the dealer will have only made around £1000 on this sale, which other dealers said as much as they wanted my business for that kind of money it's not worth their paperwork. It’s because of this I didn’t ask for the RS3 mats to be included which I know are North of £400, just didn’t have the nerve!

Would you mind sharing which dealer this was through.

I've purchased quite a few different brands and cars over the last few years and struggling with this one. How did you get from less than 5% to 10% ? I wasted 2 hours with a dealer near HQ at the weekend and was told there was not a penny of discount to be had and they were very disappointed when I left for home.

Hmm, you got more than I did through Audi friends and family and this will be my 11th car from them in the space of 8yrs.

Was this a straight deal or was there a part exchange involved?

Also, may sound like a strange question but what is the spec of your order and what was the list price of the car?

If that is a genuine discount, you've definitely won top prize, I think your dealership are very close to losing money on that deal if they've discounted so much.

Discounts are of course very welcome but too much, too soon, to too many people is a disaster for residuals.

Here in Germany 15% are normal on the RS3 at the moment

Hi Leo,

I remember reading your post about the 7.8% discount you got through your family friend and said to myself I would be very content with just half that, so naturally over the moon to get more than twice the discount to what I had first hoped for!

The OTR price is £55325 with nearly every option selected apart from ceramic brakes, carbon engine cover, panoramic sunroof, top speed limit increase & the rear side airbags. To be more accurate, the discount represents 9.5% (give or take some small change) but I got included some accessories which brings it closer to 10%. It was a straightforward deal with no P/X. I currently have a A3 Sportback 2.0tfsi quattro which I‘ve had going on 8 years but that is for keeps until her time comes to be sent to the scrapheap.

The one thing that will most influence the level of discount you get, is simply who you speak to! And what best way to do this? By asking EVERYONE that holds a position to give you a discount! The deal I got wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for my perseverance as despite being told by most of the sales team at this particular dealership that either they would not discount or offer very little, I wasn’t discouraged. After a brief conversation with one sales exec, when the rest offered me nothing/little, he came back to me after about 20 mins and I struck gold with the said discount! I don’t know why I got as much as I did (didn’t want to ask and put doubts in their minds that this was good business for them) and can only guess their reasons. All I can say is this particular person definitely had the power of persuasion to get authority from the general/sales manager for such a considerable discount that maybe no other sale exec could have got, more astounding when I’ve never done business with them before. I experienced much the same with most other dealers, eg. one in London, 6 out of the 8 or so execs told me absolutely no discount but two others offering 4% & 5.5%. It really is pot luck!

Something to be mindful of when you‘re searching around for discounts, the dealers are very conscious of how far you reside from them (rightfully so) and are less likely to offer a good discount if you live further afield than say 50 miles as they take into account what they might also earn from your loyalty, such as having the car serviced with them etc. so this will all be factored into any discount.

For anyone interested and wants the car asap!... Bristol Audi are due in November a RS3 saloon in Ara blue with Lunar silver SSS. The original customer who ordered has been in discussion with the dealer about cancelling due to a change in their personal circumstances. If this happens, the dealer is offering the car at a discount, there was no mention of how much and I didn't enquire further once I learnt it was missing one thing that I really want (hill hold assist) and one thing I really don't want (pano roof). If there is any interested parties, I will try and retrieve the contact details of the person from sales that informed me of this.

Hi Darren,

Can you tell me which part of the country you are located so I can help. Also, what did you discuss for two hours at the dealers?? I just go in, get straight to the point (forget all the small talk) and back out within minutes if there is no deal to be done.

Yes, you also have to consider that they can't offer discount on the £1885 OTR fees (inc £400 for wider wheels) as these are uncontrolled costs by the dealer.

What date have you been given for expected delivery? March 18?

Sometimes people may wrongly state level of discount due to a PX being involved and skewing the figures but seeing as yours genuinely is all discount on the car, well done, you have done very well, right place at the right time I think.

I'm based in Cambridgeshire .

The two hours wasn't as bad really - it included a demo , looking at options and then seeing what cars they had coming through before we go to the crunching of numbers .

Been told to expect delivery towards end of Feb and will be registered on the 1st March 18 if it arrives as scheduled, which suits me perfectly as I don't want to take delivery anytime before then anyway.

Balls, I had 0% on mine from Worcester.

This is one example of being unlucky and speaking to the wrong person. Most people will assume that what is offered by one sales rep will be the same offered no matter who you speak to at the same dealership. You will know better next time! You did save £400 on the VED so at least not all is lost.

I know a dealer that has one remaining build allocation for November (only know of one other dealer in the country that has remaining allocation for this year) so you could have the car before Christmas if you wanted. That would be with a discount of approx 7%.

PM if you're interested.

That’s true AudiNutta, £400 is better than a kick in the teeth and on a £55k spec car represents a 0.7% discount ;)

Even if it is an admin error on the VED adjustment.

My salesman is very dim, doesn’t seem like there is a lot there and won’t go anything outside of black and white.

Well, I hope I saved it.

It's more than £5k discount if you finance too as you save on interest.

I got a great discount on my pre-FL but we bought 2 cars at the same time & i'd already had 3 consecutive Audis over 8 years from the same Dealer so there is a degree of loyalty both ways.

When he contacted me yesterday he indicated a similar deal would be possible again but as noted I want to wait a while to see how the brakes fitted on the FL are.

Plus when I am ready to change I will need to decide if I want a 90% similar car for another 3 years ?

It's a harder decision for pre-FL RS3 owners changing to a FL than those with S3's etc.

@Snake Pliskin - If you have problems with squealing brakes on your pre-FL the dealer will fix it for free by adding weights on the calipers.

That was done in March same time as new pads & discs.

I think I have the worst possible conditions for generating the squeal i.e. Lots of short slow speed & steady braking day to day.

The squeal with the dampers & new discs is waaaay better than it was before so it's tolerable whereas it was horrendous before.

Plus if I pressure wash the discs every week this keeps on top of it. It's only if I leave them 2 weeks & it starts keeping back in week 2. A long trip where lots of debris can build up on the discs can accelerate the squeal coming back sooner but again I know to get the pressure washer out & this immediately solves the issue with shed loads of $hi7 visibly seen coming off the discs !

Like I say it's just an annoyance but not one I would want to repeat in my next car for another 3 years.

Scott Virgo ar Worcester Audi has a nardo grey RS3 in the showroom ready for immediate delivery with great discount

Keeping an eye on this thread. I was thinking of waiting until right after Christmas because I thought that would have the best discounts but maybe not.

What kind of spec, ie pretty standard or comes with black pack etc?

Great for all those who have managed to secure large discounts, but it's a bit worrying at this stage for future residuals. At this rate the next thing we will see will be pre-reg cars been heavily discounted as per M4.
The residuals on M2 were excellent when they first came out as supplies were restricted and discounts as far as I am aware we're not available.
