Heater question

For a while now I've noticed the heater is intermitent, it's normally set at 19 degrees & i usually have warm air circulating, sometimes however it's just cold air i have to turn it up to 26 27 to get warm air then next time i use the car it's blowing really hot air,

I get similar to this in my golf, if you leave the temp settings the same but click the recirculation on & off a few times does that make any difference?
That seems to get mine working again.

But I also get a tapping noise from behind the glovebox which I think Is the recirculation flap/motor clicking.

Remove the drivers side knee bolster and physically check the arms on the heater motor solenoids. Mine was hit and miss then finally it just blew cold, the arm was broken completely.
