Ok I'm just waiting for mine to start squeeeeeaaaaaling like a pig!!
74.000km in my RS3 8V and I've had 3 sets of OEM discs, 3 different references and all af them had the squeal and vibration problem.
last reference is the same as FL cars brakes have.
regards
Anyone knows where I can get those fordo premier pads if they’re cheaper ?
It’s in this thread !!
All the info you need to order Fordo...., whatever they are.
But how does that cool down inside of brake discs ? I think its better to get those ventilated backplates to get more air in to the discs and also open up in the front spoiler at least on PFL.
Sam was asking about Pads that don’t squeal.....?
Has he asked about overheating discs ......?
True, was another Bqik I mixed up with, sorry, my mistake ):. Now that its up. What do you think about cooling inside of discs, pretty bad overall on PFL?
The breaks squealed while pulling out of the handover bay....... Took it for a spirited drive (in so far as conditions allowed) and it has gone for now.
You can't paint the disks.........Mine does it all the time. Drove into the city centre today and my girlfriends original response was don’t be ridiculous it’s a new car. She’s heard it, she now understands why I want new pads.
I’m having my discs off in the new year to be painted in a bodyshop as they are rusting, I may just bite the bullet and get some Redstuff then... I don’t think I can stomach the Ferodo if Redstuff are getting good reviews, surely they are an improvement over standard anyway?

Very nice

I had corrosion build up on mine bought some wire wool attachments for my cordless drill and brought them back to life. Coated with G-Techniq c5 this worked for me. Just go lightly on the brushing stageYou can.. paint the disc bells

Nothing needs painting if it’s treated correctly to begin with.
What are those? looking to upgrade mine too. Revo?
Yes they are the REVO/Alcon brake disc. Note: Do NOT fit EBC Redstuff Pads with this disc upgrade (I know they are in the background in the pic above, but I can tell you from experience that they are not compatible for repeated high speed stopping with this disc.)
Considering how fancy they look, the OEM brakes are the biggest disappointment on the RS3. The squealing started after around 4K miles on my car but they were also suffering from brake fade after several hard stops during some 'enthusiastic' driving.
After reading all the threads on brake problems I decided that getting Audi to keep replacing them with the same parts is not the answer.
I went for the REVO Alcon brake disc upgrade.....

However, I made the mistake of fitting EBC Redstuff pads which were way too hard for the disc and the disc overheated very quickly (went blue and made the discs vibrate badly).
After a tip off from a well known Audi tuning company, I swapped out the Redstuff for Ferodo Premier pads which were a huge improvement and only cost around £130 for a full set. I ran them for around 2000 miles with no issues at all.
I was wondering how good the Ferodo DS Performance pads would be, so I swapped the Premiers out for the DS Performance versions. IMO there is not much difference between the two except perhaps the initial cold bite of the DS pads is not as good. The DS pads have been on the car for around 7000 miles now with no squealing or fading brakes. Dust is fairly minimal too.
Both the Ferodo pads also work really well with the OEM Audi disc and eliminate squealing, fading or grinding brakes. It makes the car soooooo much more enjoyable to drive.
I find that you get the squeal when you are tooling about in D. After you have been 'on it' for a bit there is no noise at all. It cannot be a heat issue.
