So my s3 will be 2 years old in March with about 15000 on the clock. Got the first service done March 17, just the oil and filter change. And I’m abit clueless as to what the second service is about.

So the question is, what work SHOULD be carried out so I don’t get mugged off by my local stealer. I’m guessing it should be, oil + filter, pollen/cabin filter and inspection. What about spark plugs / air filter etc ? Pan roof greasing ?

Ohh and the search feature doesn’t work for me before anyone tells me to search it up.

Just an inspection and oil change. Check your service schedule book that came in your documentation pack with the owners manual. Spark plugs an airfilter are at 52k miles as far as i can remember

I’m not doubting wha you are saying but that’s a lot of miles on the same sparks and air filter! They are really not that expensive. I’d be inclined to change them a lot sooner.

My service book does not say what is actually done at each service. Very unhelpful documentation.

My book doesn’t say anything useful at all! I just looked at it. All it really says is when oil changes and inspections are due, not what is done. Is the information somewhere else? I’ve not found it on “my Audi” either.

According to myaudi website the spark plugs should be done at 40k.

So for the OP I guess dust/pollen filter and oil change and inspection. Not sure about the sunroof, I don't have one and hence I guess it doesn't come up on myaudi page.

60,000 miles on an Air filter is lolzapalooza.

Just had my 2nd service done and bought the parts myself - Longlife Oil and Filter, Air Filter.

Had those changed alongside brake fluid change and haldex fluid. All done by an independent with major checks. I was under the impression spark plugs weren't needed until 60K.

Cars just hit 31K btw.

Got this from a main dealer when my car was due it's first service on variable (I believe this is the same as your 2nd service...)

Work carried out within the major service includes –

Oil filter and change

Air filter clean or replacement (if necessary)

Fuel filter (diesel only) or spark plugs (petrol only) replacement

Diagnostic for any underlying software issues or faults

Electrics – all lights, warning lamps and horn function check

Vehicle exterior –

Vehicle road test

Bodywork check for damage

Windscreen, windscreen wash/wipe system

Wiper blade condition and park position

Headlight washer system

Mirrors visual inspection/check heating if applicable

Top up of screen wash (1L)

Door locks and bonnet catch check and grease

Under bonnet –

Check auxiliary drive belt condition and tension

Battery check

Coolant level check

Clutch

Hydraulics fluid level check and power steering fluid

Under vehicle –

Front and rear brake pads/discs thickness and condition check

Engine, gearbox, steering and suspension check

Exhaust system visual check for leaks and damage

Brake system visual check for leaks and damage

Under body visual checks for damage, loose securing parts and for security

Tyre condition and pressure as well as visual checks for signs of damage

If you have such a low opinion of your local dealer, why not take the car somewhere else?

Well if you work a 9-5 job, and the 2nd nearest main dealer is 45 miles away I don’t have much of an option unless you want to come pick up my car and take it to a dealer which you have a high opinion on then be my guest. I asked for what should be carried, not for any stupid remarks about my opinions of my dealer.

@shawn,
Nice response to someone trying to help. I do agree with your comments in first post though, you do seem pretty 'clueless'.

And how exactly is suggesting I go to a different dealer any help ? I asked simply what should be done at the 2nd service so I don’t get charged for extra work which may not be necessary for whatever reason.

A helping comment would be saying

X
Y
Z
Needs to be done.
(Like some other helpful people have)

Not saying go to a different if I find my local dealer useless.

Why don't you just phone a couple of dealers during your 9-5 hours and ask them, then you can judge if they're telling you the same things.

My S3 was around the same mileage as yours when it had the 2nd service done. Oil, filter and pollen filter changed, everything else is just an inspection, I paid £220 from an Audi specialist, closet main dealer wanted £365 next closest dealer £439.80!!!! No effect to your warranty as long as genuine Audi parts are used...which they were :)
