Hi guys,

I'll be honest, I have been looking around at other cars, mainly because I bought the wife an A4 black edition and I must say I love the tech and the room inside. So I looked at an S4. Then I got back into my RS3 and that was the end of that. Not often that I adore a car, but this one seems to have me hooked.

I'm the same with my only angst being my mileage is creeping up, 40k to date :flushed:

I've been running a 66 A4 Avant q and the RS3 back to back for 17 months. Loads of tech in A4 . VC, tech pack, light and vision ,pan roof etc.. but boring as hell. I need the room of the 4 and can make do with one modern car so RS4 arrives soon. However the RS3 experience is something else. Never have I had a car that makes me grin every time I drive her. Best ever!

The RS3 is an event every single time, even when just popping for some mundane food shopping!

It's one of those cars where I always take the long way round to get anywhere.

Not a prayer of it going any time soon. Plus what would I replace it with now? Something that would cost serious mega-bucks and is way out of my price bracket is all I can think of.

All from a bleeding hatchback! LoL

That's it - I popped out for a 4 mile trip today and came back having covered 39 - the very long way round for sure. Funny thing is that the wife hadn't noticed any lateness.....

Must be a '2 year itch' thing as I have also been 'flirting' with other brands and even including different S and RS models in the Audi range too. New cars have some great technology in them now and it's so easy to be convinced that it's better than my 2 year old car. Then I jump back in and drive away and all bets are off! It's certainly not perfect but there's just something special about the way it makes you feel. Weird!

I have a feeling that despite the lack of discounts/deals I may well be ordering an FL version very shortly.

I've been offered a terrific deal to get into a fully loaded 18 plate M2... sure it won't be as visceral or drivable as my RS3, but I just love trying out new cars...tempting!

If you do, give us a write up of the two.

Was thinking the same myself, but the ticking issue and the lack of rawness to the sound is a bit off putting....But still tempted, even if for the latest tech

Going back to the 2 year itch thing I bought a bmw 335d having been an Audi fan for 20 years. What a machine that was, anyone who hasn’t driven a 550nm/auto bmw should have a go but the interior is **** and comfort is appalling so rs3 is on the way

The M2 is a class car, and I’m sure it is tempting. Have you had a drive in one yet?

It wont stay stock for long so many of the annoying issues that have been bothering some other forum members (squealing brakes for example) are not major issues for me anyway as they will get changed.
When I bought my car I never imagined that it would get under my skin so badly, yes it's flawed in many ways but even after owning it for nearly two years I still really enjoy driving it.

I had a twin turbo version which was 'fettled' by Evolve in Luton (BMW specialists) It had 740nm!
I rarely keep a car more than two years but I owned the beemer for just over three and put 70K miles on it.

Wouldn't even consider a drive in this weather....back end everywhere. That's where the RS excels

Get it...

You can always come back to the RS3 once they bring out a decent version again :)

Loved the M2. Looks wicked, sounded good, would sound amazing with an aftermarket I bet.
I would have probably got it but for the back seat access and the missus hating heated front window lines (?!)

Fun is probably the wrong choice of word.

To be fair, my only option is a FL, which personally I don't see the point in getting a quieter car...only kidding folks, but from a personal point don't see the advantage bar the better tech. The new A45 next year apparently is going to make massive strides over the current model, a total rework pushing 400+ and sub 4 secs. But that 5 pot noise had me hooked. New RS4, although stunning, has lost a bit of the appeal with the V8 going so pretty much stuck.

Listen guys the FL RS3 is not that quiet. In fact it's not remotely quiet.

You need to hear one that's run in.

Think you'll change your opionon.

Agreed .... for pre FL owners there is no viable reason to get the FL - even though it has newer styling and virtual cockpit etc.
The financial increase for a few tweaks here & there is in no way worth it to me - I could not justify it anyway.
IMO there is just not enough "difference" to warrant shelling out £20k + to be in a car for another 3 years which is VERY similar.
My planned change would be March next year - by which point the 8v will be pretty much run out so no way I would consider another 8v.
So I see my options, as wait for a new platform S3 and keep the RS3 longer ( meaning I need to reseach what an MOT is lol ) or look at something like an S4 or the then new Merc A45 AMG as mentioned above - or even the C63 AMG coupe which also looks nice.
I've had Audi cars the last 10 years so would take a lot for me to go to another brand - a new platform S3 would be my preferred choice, its just waiting for it.

I'll be watching the new A45 AMG closely. Had lots of VAG cars in recent years which are great but I fancy a change. As @Radman says though, I'm hooked on the 5cyl engine...

Dream car would be a new 911 turbo. I'm a few years away from being able to afford one unfortunately!

Yes I must admit the Merc does have an appeal & the timing could be spot on.

Maybe after 10 years of Audi’s I should consider a change ?

Hello guys.
i might of been away but I've been looking at your opinions.
Went and seen the new RS4 at Bristol Audi the other day and if I'm honest wasn't won over by the look of it,still think the B8 is the one to have, especially that V8 aspirated lump that sits in it.
They also had a stunning Porsche blue RS3 in the show room, mind you no SSS in it and still commanding over 54k.
Mines beside it you would not no unless you looked at the front end off course, I think there awesome cars but I feel the Audi RS brand is........going to technical and losing it rawness, and pedigree.
I've not driven mines in over 4months and can't wait to get behind the wheel again of it, and I've still not launched it after a year of ownership.
No silly comments please

Launch control puts a silly grin on yer face !
And the noise whilst it's sitting there is hilarious.
Everyone should experience launch control.

Haven't used it much but one of those times was a great surprise for the Mrs!

Tried to launch mine the other night with winter Sottozero’s and a rain drenched long straight road(industrial estate out of the way)
A very interesting launch indeed, all four spun up that seemed to last for an eternity before it slide the back out all over the place. ******* brilliant :tearsofjoy:

I've mentioned before that current PFL owners like me, looking to move on some time soonish, will HAVE to look at the new AMG A45 before considering a FL RS3.
They would have to make it sound a bit better and have a nicer, revamped interior though.

I still don't think SSS is needed in an RS3. The base is the same anyway apparently. Personally I thought the Blue RS3 was way too flash too!

Come on @RGBARGEE , the SSS look mega and so much more expensive.

Not denying they look nice but really you can't see them when you're sat on them and the base is the same. I wouldn't pay extra for them but happy they are standard in RS4, I think, although one reviewer was critical of the headrest height!

A number of people have commented that whilst the SSS bases visually look the same, they are in fact different.

The SSS base is slighty firmer / more padded and less prone to sagging.

I am a fan of the super sports seats - after having them in my S5 I was converted.

They are more supportive around the shoulders, look amazing and the bases are slightly firmer as noted.

On the RS3 they have the perforations too - they do set off the interior.

The seats in the NEW RS4 are the newest style RGB and look fantastic  :sunglasses:

I no it's terrible bud, it must be the only RS3 about that's never been launched.
It's not turned a wheel in over 4months.
Need to start getting the miles on it, your 27000miles in front of mines

Yea I agree regarding the SSS, it's sets the inside if the car of nicely, not seeing them in that stunning blue RS3 put me off it. No SSS or the sports exhaust would be a deal breaker for many I'd imagine.
But each to there own

Lol I often sit at the lights with LC buzzing away then just potter off the line. AN has said before that it probably counts as a launch (if there is a counter) even though I don't actually launch that often!
