Key stuck in the ignition barel

Hi guys hear is my issue. My car is an Audi a3 sportback 3.2 v6 Quattro I put my key in as normal started car as normal, when I went to switch it off the key won't turn. I can't switch it off. I had to stall the engine to get it to switch off and disconnct the battery. The key is stuck in the on position. Any ideas.

Key broke ? was it playing up prior to this ? How many miles has the car done ? Have you got a small recessed button on the outer ring of the ignition this will need pushing in with a screwdriver and your key should rotate and release.

No issues with the key or ignition barrel prior to this. Car has done approximately 110k. Have tried with the screwdriver no joy. That' the only place I can see where to put a screwdriver is that correct?

Yes try that,I remember someone having a similar issue and used that mechanism to release it
