For what its worth I considered a number of routes re: remap and have opted to go revo. Primarily due to the number of positive reviews by S5/S4 owners on fora, they're close to me, their reputation, the time they appear to dedicate to development and in testing their maps over a prolonged period to minimise impact on the components of the car - ultimately with a focus on driveability. That said, if MRC was closer to Newcastle I would've had a tougher decision to make but for me, revo it is - money paid, booked in for Friday next week. I'm going stage 1+ but not going for gearbox map - similar to you its circa £1200 (with rolling road before and after + parts/labour).

I've not seen any posts (albeit haven't looked too hard) reviewing Celtic Tuning on the 3.0 TFSI Supercharged however, why don't you give revo a go seeing as you're booked in and if not convinced take the 30 day money back option? or vice versa - go with Celtic first and see how it goes? Not sure if they offer money back though?

I thought gearbox map went hand in hand? If that’s not the case then I will swerve the gearbox map

Celtic seem to have a very hit and miss reputation, for a £1000 1.8t golf I'd probably take a punt, for a £15000+ audi I wouldn't be skimping on the map.

The OP is not going for a stage1+ map though.
Worth doing at stage 1 as well . I had mine done before I went to stage 1+. Worth doing at the same time in my opinion just for the additional options alone.

What additional options?
Stage 1+ doesn’t really give that much more power does it?

I did a really quick websearch and found some dyno plots for stage 1 REVO and Celtic. Of course there are lots of arguments why comparing dyno graphs should be done with a very big pinch of salt, however it appears that REVO gets better gains. I would expect that because REVO is a specialist tuner and Celtic is a generalist, and the REVO costs more. Unfortunately only @andyay123 can decide if £800* for 20ish more HP is worth it.

*Although that's not correct is it? Celtic is without TCU remap and REVO stage 1 is £699?

Regarding stage 1 vs stage 1+ I think it is a mistake to think about peak power. Members who care about peak power should consider a turbo car instead. The attraction of the B8 S4 is the supercharger, with its broad torque curve. The benefit from increasing the drive ratio is not just peak power (and if MRC's figures are right that's about 35hp at the top end), but more importantly the torque gain across the whole rev range, especially the bottom end. I certainly appreciate that torque boost at the bottom end more than I do the boost at the top because of the TCU map.

I believe the stock DL501 torque limit is 550Nm so TCU remap is probably not necessary at stage 1, especially if you're not one to hit the redline very often. However at stage 1+ it would be foolish not to have the TCU remap because of the increase in clutchpack clamping force.

Revo stage 1 is 699 excluding VAT so £840 inclusive
Thanks for your post

Am still V confused. I love booting my car around the streets and certainly wouldn't take it to any track to race.
Stage 1+ would therefore seem to be a waste of money.

Confused dot com

When you "boot your car around the streets", most of the time that is in the lower part of the rev range. With a stage 1 you'll have an average of around 15% more force doing that booting. With stage 1+ you'll have around 25% more force on average.

Thank you. Thats exactly what I didn't know before. Now I know! elightened dot com

I have cancelled the Revo and decided to go with Celtic at £250 inclusive VAT.
They had previously worked on my Range Rover sport and i was suitably impressed with that remap. I am a geek but not a super geek that I can justify an extra £600 for the Revo.

It must be night and day with that price difference
Let us know how it goes

I may have noted before that I think the REVO price includes SPS so that justifies at least part of the price difference.

The SPS isn't included - I was quoted £99+ vat for it.
