I’m going to test drive an 2012 a4 Quattro it’s got 86k on the clock with full service history

Can anyone tell me when the timing belt should be done on these engines?

Is there anything to watch out for on the test drive ?

Thanks

On the 177 it is 10 years or 133,000 miles!

The previous 170 engine, I think, was 90,000 miles.

Check going from first if there is any judder mate. You’ll know the feeling, judder/ skip.

If so clutch flywheel on way out.

I wouldn't / haven't wait 10 years, I had my A4 & A5 2.0tdi's done at 5 years old, and would do the same no matter the mileage. Any responsible Audi owner would do the same IMO.

If I were looking at this car, I'd want the timing belt done, better safe than sorry.

On 4 cylinder engines I'd opt for 5 years or 60k miles, and 6 cylinder engines then 80k miles or 5 years. Do the water pump and tensioner pulley at the same time. 10 years and 133k miles is impractical. If it goes, then the engine is goosed. Audi fixed price servicing is pretty competitive for this type of work and parts are guaranteed for 2 years.
