My front wipers stopped working

Hi I have a 2005 8P Audi A3 1.6 Sport back. Recently, my front wipers stopped working and the warning light for my automatic wipers/lights appeared. It wasn't just the automatic function of the wipers that failed, as I can't even manually switch them on now. I have already checked the fuse and was wondering what I should check next? I'm skint and it's starting raining daily so I kind of need to fix it... Thanks in advance

Have you fitted any kind of HID kit?

The previous owner put some in I think. There's a small silver box with wires connected to the headlights on both sides.

They are known to mess up the wiper motor if they share the same earthing point.
Best case scenario, find a new earth and the wiper motor might come back to life again.
Worst case scenario, it's blown as a result of the HID kit.
Or it may not be related so you will need to do more digging, but it's a good place to start.
