Hi there my son has a 2007 a3 tdi sline 170bhp he thinks the clucth may be going as when changeing gear he saying that the clutch feels numb (NOT SURE WHAT HE MEANS BY THIS) ALSO THE CAR IS HIGH REVING AND THE SMELL OF BURNING. So he thinks it could be the clutch so looking for some help is there anyway to tell if it is the clutch is on it's way out, also been speaking to people, and some are saying if needed go and replace with a dual mass flywheel and others are saying go for a solid flywheel just wondering what you all think. Sorry forgot to say that this does not happen all the time
thanks for any help

Put it into a higher gear, and throttle down if the revs rise fast and the speedo doesn't it's the clutch

How many miles has the car done?. Is it mapped? Better to stick with a DMF unless the car is making more than 350Lb/ft the DMF will be fine.DMF not only reduces Noise , Vibration etc it improves gear changes.
