Is my Stereo install causing the immobiliser to kick in? Is that even possible?

Hi all

I am trying to install a Kenwood DPX-7000 into my 2003 (8L Chassis) 1.8t Audi A3. - Could be one for the ICE section, but knowledge here seems to be great!!! MODS please move if you see fit.

I have the Autoleads CT20AU09 harness (which I believe is the right harness but correct me if I am wrong). The system is the non-bose system if that makes a difference.

When I plug in the stereo, the car goes dead! Almost like the immobiliser is on! Plenty of juice in the batery and starter motor is clicking as it should. If I unplug it, and reset the mobiliser the car starts again - Well, that happened once. I can't seem to get the car to start since.

What am I doing wrong?

the car didn't start but it didn't seem as though any power was going to the unit.

Please advise.

Regards

After market immobiliser or factory one?

Checked for fault codes?

Factory immobiliser

Can I scan for fault codes if I can't switch the engine on?

I only have a OBD Eleven to scan for faults. I hope that can do the job.

Thanks

I have not used OBD Eleven say can't say for sure if it will cover it all but it may throw up an ECU code

I assume everything is ok when you disconnect the adaptor? car starts and behaves as normal?
