Hi all

Recently purchased a s3 8p 2010
Tte 420 and all the supporting mods running around 411bhp.

Gave it in for a health check at vrs Northampton

Ran below power 390 bhp

Got the timing belt and water pump done as the water pump was leaking

Timing chain and tensioner also done with cam follower

Oil service

New dv and a few other bits n bobs

A week later car has started to misfire and also smoking (white/blueish) has a atmospheric r tec pcv delete and it just chucks out fumes of fuel so bad that its visible coming out the bonnet gaps.
Used vagcom and showing cylinder one missfire, swapped the coils still showing cylinder one missfire same with the plugs.

Now I done a compression test (disconnected fuel pump and hpfp) and the results as follow

Cylinder 1 - 50

Cylinder 2 - 150

Cylinder 3 - 150

Cylinder 4 - 150

Dry test

Cylinder 1 when put a bit of oil down showed around 110

Could this be an internal engine problem or should I try changing an injector

Wow, they are low compared to mine that was done on Friday.
160 was my lowest on Cyl 1
190, 180 and 190 were the other 3 (from memory).

Hope it's not a serious problem for you.

Was this a dry test or wet

Dry test.
All cylinders went up during a wet test, but cyl 1 was still a bit low.
Mine is getting a full service this weekend with thicker oil to see if it helps.

An injector won't help mate, I'd consider pulling the head at these figures. You could just have a blown hg, burnt valves or a crack in the head itself, but heavy fuel fumes from the pcv delete suggests fuel is washing into the sump too so the rings could be generally worn, especially on cyl1 which would explain most of the symptoms, including the smoking from oil getting into the cylinders and exhaust.

R-tech put a post up on their facebook page yesterday about similar issues.
They investigated and found the filter basket was completely destroyed, which they claim is usually down to chemical cleaning. Their next move is to remove the head an inspect pistons.
