Call me Dan!
Hi guys,
Been a fairly long term member of Audi-Sport so figured I’d post a brief summary of my A5 ownership as it’s currently in the dealership having it’s service.
Mines a ‘17 2.0TDi Quattro S-Tronic, I cover quite a few miles per year hence why I’m already on 45k miles. I’ve so far had 1 oil service, 1 inspection service, 1 gearbox oil and filter change and now it’s in for its 2nd oil change and also fuel filter replacement. This is likely to be over £400 as they wanted £186 just for the fuel filter!!
In terms of issues, so far touch wood, nothing major. It had a recall for the safety camera in the windscreen, a replacement LED plate light but the main issue is the braking system. It’s currently been with Audi for over a week now, long story short, when the car is sat for over 24 hours without use the brake pedal goes rock solid. They’ve sent a technical report to Audi UK as they basically have no idea what the problem is, not sure if anyone else has had the same issue?
Other than that, overall happy with the car! I’ve blacked out all of the chrome as it’s a Mythos Black coupe. Next on the list will probably a small boot lip and a set of the new 20” Rotor alloys. The temptation for an S5 is growing by the day though! I had an old B8 S5 sportback and absolutely loved it! But the new A5 is plenty comfortable enough as a long distance cruiser, seats aren’t quite as comfy as my old BMW 4 series but the full nappa leather is sumptuous and soft. Plenty of on board tech, particularly love the live traffic and warnings such as slow traffic ahead, road closures, road works etc. Definitely will make sure my next car had Apple CarPlay! The adaptive Matrix LED headlights are a must for anyone looking to purchase one, they’re absolutely brilliant at night.
Here’s to many more happy miles.
