Hey guys,

I recently purchased this car and I normally check that the EML or Check Engine Light illuminates in ignition and goes off after the car starts.

I completely over looked this and of course later that evening I noticed.

Car drives smooth, gets good fuel economy, hasn't went into limp mode and starts fairly well.

There is no errors other than a dynamic range headlight error which I was aware of when purchasing the car.

So I guess on this particular model, like most other cars I've owned, the EML should display on ignition and go out after the car has started?

Is anyone aware of something I can do to test if the light is working or not?

Thanks.

Mine did exactly the same and I hadn’t noticed, drove brilliantly etc. Went to part exchange it and they didn’t want to know, point blank refused to take it.

Well I've scanned mine for codes, got p2015 and p2020, had a look at the swirl flap actuators and they're a bit worse for wear.

Looks like someone has either taped up the EML, broken it or maybe disabled it through software... Is that possible?

Did you ever find out what happened to yours G.Short?
