Hi,

quick one... and probably a stupid question. Am i right in thinking that the b8.5's don't have a steering fluid reservoir because the steering is electric?

In other words i don't have to check the fluid level ever?

I've noticed it make a slight noise on full lock (both ways) when going very slowly but looking online this seems fairly normal. It's not a terminal sounding noise... it's just a slight rubbing sort of sound and only at very low speeds.

thanks in advance

Never a stupid question if you don't know the answer. :)

And no, there's no PAS fluid reservoir.

Would one be right in assuming you've a quattro. And if so, it is the famous 'quattro' noise on full lock you are referring to on here, which is very normal.

It's an S4 Quattro yes..... so seems total normal and i can just ignore it and turn the music up louder so i can't hear it! ha ha

Yes, that grinding quattro noise on full lock is very normal mate . You should get concerned only if you can't hear it on full lock and at slow speeds

Ha ha. Reassuring then. That's a first.... when something doesn't make a weird noise it's all fine. German engineering at it's best lol

Thanks. Just a load of electrical stuff to go wrong instead ha ha

Couldnt be more wrong....

Elec power steering has been around on Vauxhalls since about 1998. The Corsa EPAS column is well renowned for being retro fitted into just about every kit car, Mk1 & Mk2 Escort and Nova ever built lol.

No hydraulic lines to corrode and leak and no PAS pump to fail.

Only ever experienced one failed EPAS column, the potentiometer failed so pulled to left and wheel wouldnt centre. A £10 fix.
