Mystery engine pipe

Hello guys,

I have a A4 bex quattro sport avant and recently I found out a broken plastic pipe hidden in the trunk where the spare wheel is. So I checked the engine bay and I think I found where it's supposed to be. So i wanted to ask you to help me out with it - what's it for, where it's supposed to be and from where to buy it.
I've uploaded some pictures, on one of the pictures I've circled in white the area where I think the pipe should be, also in that same area the pipe that's there now is open and there is water or some other liquid in there.

P.S. I am a complete amateur,have no experience fixing cars and therefore I may ask a lot of (stupid) questions

Secondary air injection pump, it runs for 90 seconds on cold start up.
It's to help warm the cat up quickly for emissions.
It should illuminate the engine management light unless it has been written out of the map.

The engine management light is on and I checked it with a scan tool I have and it showed secondary air injection system fault but I thought it's going to be EGR or the fuse for them(according to a quick search I did). So can I buy just this pipe or I have to buy a new secondary air pump(does this pump come with the pipe?)?

You'll have to refit the pipe and go from there. If the pump still works the ECU will see this.
It doesn't have EGR this is a common misconception.
