Hi all,

I hope everyone is doing well. My vehicle (2011 Audi S4) recently hit me with a gear box malfunction. I took it to the local dealership and the following was what I was provided along with a significant quote:

"Road tested, confirmed transmission fault message.
Scanned for faults, found P179E00 and P179F00 faults for
transmission drive position sensor electrical malfunction.
Carried out test plan, concludes to replace drive position
sensor or G676. Performed basic setting on sensor, fault returned"

Does anyone have any suggestions here? Repairing the vehicle at the cost they gave me (over $7k) does not seem practical but I wanted insight from others before I make a decision

thanks

Find an automatic transmission specialist, I’m sure they can remove your transmission and replace the sensor. It will be far cheaper than Audi labour rates.

This is good advice; I'm sure the same rules apply in Canada as here in the UK. Official dealers provide ho-sum service at collosal prices whilst a good dependable independent specialist will do a better job for half the cost.
