So I'm doing rear pads and discs. Can I get the caliper off? Can I heck! The guide pins just seem to turn and turn forever. Please tell me I'm being stupid before I overdose on tea trying to figure this out!
I just did mine this morning on the B6 A4, if they're the same then you have to use 2 spanners, 15mm to hold the locking nut and 13mm to unscrew the pin.
Quite right Andy, and immediately after posting I went down and gave everything a clean thereby removing the mud that was hiding the fact it was a locking nut and not just a spacer. As soon as I saw the flat edges I thought "d'oh!" and got a spanner on it.
All done now and the second side took about 20 minutes once I knew what I was doing. Now if only the rain would stop pouring so I could finish detailing my wheels...
