Ever since we have owned our 2001 TT Roadster 225 it has never started first time but second turn of the key its been fine until recently. Now the car will not start on the first 3 or 4 attempts and then once it runs it coughs splutters and conks out. On the next try it will fire up perfectly and runs fine. I have just put the car into an audi specialist and they could not replicate this issue and there are no fault codes stored.
Upon picking the car up first thing in the morning the car again would not start, it fired 3rd time but spluttered to a stop and then 4th time run perfectly. Is this a sign of the fuel pump failing.
I had the car mapped recently and on the test drive after it miss fired out the back, through the inlet and nearly blew the boost hose off the manifold, they tried a milder map and it was still hesitating from around 3000rpm like it was running out of fuel. The decision was taken to put the standard map back on and it seems fine but i do feel its been down on power for a while.
I have fitted new coils, new MAF, new fuel filter, new air filter, its had oil and filter change, new spark plugs but still the same.
Are all these issues likely to be down to the Fuel Pump? I have just ordered an N75 valve to give a try in terms of the 3000rpm hesitation but would appreciate your thoughts.
Cheers in advance
